Even though a lot of movies that are made from video games have sucked I still want to see more of them. I have always loved the idea of video game things making it to the big screen.

Over the last five years, I have become much more intrigued by TV shows (Netflix series, HBO, Disney+, anime. I have always liked them but as TV becomes more and more high quality, I prefer the story telling and character building in a television show so much more.

Things like Netflix, HBO, Amazon, Hulu and Disney+ have made TV so much more cinematic some even being movie level quality.

So naturally, when I discovered that "The Witcher" was becoming a Netflix series I was excited.

In the beginning I was worried that a TV show would be hard to pull off with the magic and creatures and similar effects they would need for this to look good. I was worried the actors wouldn't portray the roles of characters I have loved in the games. I was worried about a lot of things being portrayed wrong or changed by the writers.

In the end after watching season 1... I was extremely happy with the show. I think many of the characters are played well. I think Yennefer took some time getting used to but by the end I felt she was exactly in the right spot as an actor for her. I think Triss is an interesting character as she looks nothing like the video game character, but I like her all the same. For the two main characters of the show... wow... Henry Cavill (a witcher fan himself) is Gearlt. He is Gearlt down to the tee, man. He gets everything right and does it so well, and his companion Jaskier (which is Dandelion) who is the perfect annoying, comedic relief, companion that he is meant to be.

The shows timeline is a bit confusing, and I think for non-fans they could have done a better job showing the world and characters. For me I knew many of the characters already and the layout of the world. The armies who were fighting, the land they were taking, but overall I think the show is built in a way to make the viewer pay attention and put something together themselves with a little work. Which I think is clever and I like because they don't want it to just be a passive show.

For the action and monster killing fans; this show is low on that so far. It has its moments, but it's so far heavily focused on dialogue, politics, and kind of like a mystery drama. I like this, I think Game of Thrones for a lot of the good parts was slower and based on this dialogue and politics style and that's why it was so successful. I love the world of the Witcher and seeing it live acted on Netflix is great.

I can easily see this being a good 6-7 seasons over the next 5-10 years and maybe getting a movie or two to go with it. There is a lot of source material and plenty of stories to go on. So, if they keep that up and continue on with how much I like it now this will be a great show.

Overall I really enjoyed the show as a whole and can't wait for Season 2 (with hopefully 13 episodes instead of 8).

Also I won't rate the show until its over, but it was really good and I fully recommend.
