Geoff Keighley did his usual stroll onto the video game stage Thursday afternoon to kick off his third year of the Summer Games Fest. Keighley made note before the show via twitter that viewers should be excited for the show, but to make sure to temper expectations as there would be mostly already announced games talked about during the show.

Even with tempered expectations, I walked away feeling a bit underwhelmed with the main show. Not to mention, Sony managed to leak the finale of the show hours before the stream with the PlayStation store updating to show pre-orders available for The Last Of Us Part 1 remake.
So, let's go over everything in the show.
Street Fighter 6 - Guile reveal trailer
The next iteration of Street Fighter looks really promising, and I am not a fighting game fan. More game play is always great, and we got just that with the reveal of one of the characters that will be in the game when it launches in 2023. I am actually super interested in this game this time around.
Aliens Dark Descent
From here we start with the string of Sci-fi space horror games that we got to see during the show. Aliens Dark Descent got a CGI trailer reveal that showcases a spooky tactical team-based shooter type of game set in the Aliens universe.
Not to much to be excited for yet, but if you like Alien and spooky games this will probably intrigue you a bit more than it did me.
Callisto Protocol
Now, I am not much into horror games, but I am a sucker for Dead Space, and Callisto Protocol looks like the unofficial Dead Space 4 I have always wanted. We got more game play of this project and it looks scary and awesome. Callisto Protocol is coming out on December 2, 2022.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II
Ok, I will be the first to admit, COD never changes. The last few years Call of Duty has felt more similar with each release and that doesn't really change here. That being said this is a continuation from the Modern Warfare 2018 which was a reboot of the Modern Warfare series from several years ago. And it looks pretty dang sweet.
My favorite part of MW 2018 was the campaign and this looks like they will be upping the anti with this one. Only Call of Duty can release a game called Modern Warfare II that is a sequel to Modern Warfare 2018, but a prequel to Call of Duty 4, but not to be mistaken as a remake of Modern Warfare 2. Anyways, watch the campaign reveal trailer to see the return of COD favorites like Captain Price, Soap, and Ghost.
Flashback 2
Geoff was pretty excited for this announcement of Flashback 2 the sequel to the 30 year old game Flashback. Not much game play shown, but I like sci-fi and I have heard a little about the original so I plan to keep my eye on this one for sure.
Witchfire
This was one of my big takeaways from the show. My first thought was how similar it looked to Destiny, but in a western gothic setting. Everything in this trailer looked crisp, fast, and fun. I will be checking this one out for sure.
Routine
Back at it with another space horror game with the re-reveal of Routine. The trailer was spooky and looks like it could have a loop/rougelike mechanic in a scary space setting.
Stormgate
Keeping with the sci-fi theme of most of the show we got a CGI trailer for an RTS from Frost Giant. Stormgate will have a beta and you can sign-up on their website here.
American Arcadia
A mix of The Truman Show and Limbo is what you get with American Arcadia. This looks like a fun puzzle chase side-scroller. Indies seemed to have a dominating presence in this show, but this is a definite standout.
Dead Isl.... Goat Simulator 3
Coffee Stain Studios really pulled a fast one on fans of the FPS melee zombie Dead Island games. Geoff started this announcement saying it was a long awaited sequel fans were waiting for. Then comes in a trailer that looks very similar to the 2014 reveal trailer of Dead Island 2. It resembles the trailer to a tee, that is until the familiar hard-headed goats come crashing in to destroy the world around them. Goat Simulator 3 comes away with easily the best reveal of the show in my opinion. And yes, your not crazy, they skipped Goat Simulator 2.
Metal Hellsinger
Doom, but everything is based on rhythm, count me in. This is a new game play trailer for the Metal rhythm shooter. It is coming September 15 and has a demo available now on steam.
Nightingale
The industry is no where short of survival crafting game. But that's for good reason the ones that are well made are great. Nightingale looks to add to the survival crafting genre with a card system that lets you move to new locations, enemies, and challenges.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Darktide will be a 4-player FPS action game where you will fend off hordes of enemies. This game looks sick. We got a lot of Sci-fi with this show, but I am here for it and this is o different. Darktide looks like it will be a blast.
Other things shown during Summer Games Fest:
Midnight Suns the Marvel strategy game got a high-octane trailer showing off a bit more of the characters.
Keeping the theme with Midnight, Midnight Fight Express looks like a fun martial arts game and is coming August 23.
Outriders the third person looter shooter from People Can Fly showed a bit more of the upcoming expansion: World slayer
Fall Guys got a fun live-action trailer.
Highwater looks to be an adventure strategy game set in a post-climate change world
Cuphead got some more game play for The Delicious Last Course DLC
Neon White looks to be a trip of a game. A fast-paced first person shooter with card game elements? How does that even work? Neon White seems to make it happen.
Warframe is getting a new open world update.
From the studio who brought you Genshin Impact we got a look at Hoyoverse's next projects
Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero both run with a more future sci-fi setting than Genshin Impact but holds that similar anime RPG style.
TMNT: Shredders Revenge got some new game play and will be coming to Xbox Gamepass on June 16.
One Piece Odyssey got a new trailer showing a bit more of the world in the JRPG adventure game.
Soul Hackers 2 is the next anime RPG from Atlus, not much more can be said for that.
Saints Row dropped a trailer to show of the games customization with the Boss Factory character creator. They also are launching Boss Factory now where you can create your own boss now, and see how whacky you can get with Saints Row.
Layers of Fears is the next horror game from Bloober Team. FPS horror is not my thing but it looks scary as can be.
Gotham Knights got another trailer, if you need more footage of this game then here you go, I am just ready for it to out already. The game comes out October 25.
To wrap up the show Geoff went with a 15 minute Naughty Dog discussion with Neil Druckmann to talk about the already leaked Last of Us Part 1 remake. They said it is coming to PC eventually, and showed a concept art for Naughty Dog's factions multiplayer game that was at one point supposed to come with the Last of Us 2.
Overall, the show lacked any big show shaking announcements, but showcased a lot of good stuff in between the big trailers. At the very end of the show Geoff also said that Summer Games Fest is coming back next year and will have an in-person event. If Geoff can keep the hype rolling into next year this could very well be the end of e3 for good.
